I’m a pushover. There, I said it.
So here’s the deal. A month or so ago I got real excited about buying a Mac computer. I had heard a lot about them and I’ve been getting into video editing so I thought “what the heck?” I looked around on KSL Classifieds - Utah’s classified ads website (for a good 10 minutes, definitely long enough to make an informed decision about a product you know nothing about).

There she was. Slim, slender, white hair and a gaping shiny mouth. The previous owner used it for video editing and on-the-fly jobs so he put it into a crate thing with wheels on it. How much sweeter could it get? It looks cool and supposedly performs great. So I arranged to make the purchase a few days later. I got the whole system for $900.00. Hold your horses before calling me an idiot. He gave me the complete Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 software suite (retails for more that $600 bucks) so I was happy about that. I figured that if the computer turned out to be a complete piece of junk, at least I could take pride in knowing that I own one of the most powerful video editing softwares around.
Go figure, this is pretty much how it turned out. I had the computer for about a month when I went to turn it on. Mind you it was Christmas day when I pushed the “on” button because I just got a processor upgrade for it. I watched it do it’s thing, but there was a problem. It got stuck on the startup screen. The gray screen that has the pin wheel just stayed there. I thought it would just snap out of it, but to no avail.
So now it’s just been sitting in my room for the last month. I wanted to get it repaired, but I didn’t know if it would be worth the cash it would take, so I made an executive decision. I would put it up on KSL Classifieds (the same place I bought it from) for $450.00. That decision was made tonight, and about 3 minutes after I submitted the ad I had a phone call (11:00 PM). I talk to the guy and he’s very interested. Why is it that as soon as I begin to speak with someone I form a sort of emotional bond? I hate it. It’s like I bend over and say “take me for a ride, I’ll do whatever you say.” I’m going to blame it on my Mom’s side of the family. Anyways, the guy ended up talking me into $300.00 as being a fair price. It’s now 11:54 PM and I’m wondering why I accepted the offer. I’m sure I could have got more, but at the same time I just want to get rid of it. Despite the “bad” experience I had with my first Mac, I’m going to buy another one. For the month I had with it working I made a sweet video with iMovie and I loved just about everything about the Mac OSX. They really are super multi-media computers…..when they turn on that is.
Again, I hope this post made sense, cause I’m super tired and I’m not sure it’s making sense to me either.
MAC FTW for Media
PC FTW for Data Processing
