"Wikipedia Is Wrong" - Mark Hoppus

I found this pretty hilarious.

If you don’t know who Mark Hoppus is, you can jump off a cliff. :) Really though, he was the bassist/vocalist for Blink 182 (before their indefinite hiatus), and he is now the bassist/vocalist for one of my favorite bands +44. He and Travis Barker started +44 after Blink was dissolved.

He now has a free podcast conveniently self-titled - HiMyNameIsMark. You can find it by searching the iTunes music store, or you can check out his blog at HiMyNameIsMark.com.

You can tell he’s a cool guy just by looking at the picture.

Anyway, the whole purpose of this post is to tell you about a funny announcement he made on his blog. He talks about how his mom called him up yelling about how his Wikipedia page was wrong and how he needed to fix it. It made me laugh, so here’s the original text:

Wikipedia Is Wrong

April 10th, 2008

my mom called me the other day angry about wikipedia. she said there were all kinds of inaccuracies in the “mark hoppus” entry. first of all, why is my mom cyber-stalking me? secondly, why does she call ME to yell about it? in any case, i checked it out today, and indeed the entry is wrong. not that it matters, but my name is mark allan hoppus. i have no idea where markus came from, but someone is going to have to answer to a very angry mark hoppus’s mother. also, my sister’s name is anne mcmurray (not wright). so NOW someone has to answer to an angry mark hoppus’s sister. AND, as much as i wish i did, i do not own part of famous stars and straps. so now someone has to answer to a very angry mark hoppus’s bandmate. and finally, whoever the ugly guy in the photo is, it’s definitely not me. i don’t look like that, do i? i hope i don’t. it’s gotta be someone else… in fact, that photo has inspired me and chris to start a website called youhavedumbface.com where we are going to put photos of all our friends in the middle of talking or just looking stupid. i am proud to be the first entry on the site. but back on point, can someone please tell wikipedia to spell my name right? you’d make my mom very happy.

Turns out a loyal Mark Hoppus supporter has gone through the page and fulfilled each and every one of his requests. Wouldn’t it rock to be that famous? I’d love to meet the guy.
