As I stated in my last post, I signed up for the PPC-Coach in hopes of drastically improving my PPC Marketing skills. Sidenote: It’s 50 bucks a month, but it’s already worth it and I’m only on my third day of the subscription. Sidenote#2: You can cancel at any time during your membership. That’s a question I had before signing up. Anywho, PPC-Coach has several cool software tools that you download and use for your first lesson. I downloaded these tools and was attempting to install them on one of my many dreamhost servers and lo and behold – I was getting tons of errors. I had had problems with Dreamhost before (speed/error issues) so I had a pretty good idea that the errors I was getting were Dreamhost related. Big surprise.
So I contacted Dreamhost customer support via email and they had a timely response (as usual. props to them) but they said the the error was a problem with the third-party software’s problem. Of course it was! Who wants to take blame, right?
Last night I realized that I have quite a bit of hosting space over at SimpleHelix that I’m paying for, but not using. I figured I would purchase a new website on their site (only $7.95) or something and use try to install the PPC-Coach software there. I purchased the domain last night and got everything set up today. Needless to say, the errors simply didn’t exist when I installed the PPC-Coach tools on my SimpleHelix server. Although the SimpleHelix admin interface leaves much to be desired when copmared to Dreamhost’s, I must give props to SimpleHelix for having solid hosting and super-quick email/phone support (both free). You can sign up for SimpleHelix here.
What problems have you had with Dreamhost? Do you agree with me when I say that Dreamhost sucks? I’ve been with them for quite a while (a couple of years), so my opionon isn’t just based on one bad experience.

Unfortunately I don’t agree with you there. Working for two different web hosting companies and having experience with others, errors are bound to happen.
Technical support is there to assist you with issues with their servers not 3rd party software. Also being a former employee of Microsoft XP Tech Support, there were many 3rd party applications causing havoc on an XP machine.
Just because it installs correctly on one host does not mean that the previous you had was the problem. 9 times out of 10 it’s the end user who made the mistake and/or did not read the technical requirements of said software.
Bumble bee tuna!
So now SimpleHelix ROCKS and Dreamhost SUCKS? You posted earlier this year about how it was the opposite.
Am conflicted now. Which is it? Looks like you compared the billing area to the server control panel. Have you even looked into your old post?
They both suck.
Dreamhost control panel is pretty slick. Hosting sucks.
Simplehelix control panel blows. Their hosting used to rock, but now sucks.
I’m a fan of WiredTree at the moment. Subject to suck. I mean change.
That’s odd. I find my SimpleHelix hosting to be absolutely outstanding. Did you know their support go far beyond ‘tech support’ to resolve Magento issues? Most of the fixes for problems you see came from their support.
Can you outline WHY they suck? I’m just not seeing it.
Sounds like you were a customer before they were bought by a company who knows what the hell they’re doing.
What’s good about WiredTree? You seem to think everything sucks. Sounds like you’re an XBox player.
This pretty well describes my hard feelings towards simple helix: http://eliteeternity.com/elite-insight/simple-helix-fails-hardcore/.
They didn’t always suck. They did start sucking around the time that the new owners came on board.
WiredTree just seems to work. Their support is top-notch, and I have never had downtime issues.
I’m not an XBox player, I just like to tell it how it is. Simple Helix was good, now they suck (or at least they did when I left). WiredTree is super good right now, hopefully they don’t suck in the future. If they do though, I’ll be sure to let you know.
