Though I once was an outsider looking into the bird cage, I have since wised up. Thanks to my friend Jordan, I now see the value of networking with Twitter. I now laugh at all of the “internet marketing guru’s” who are still hesitant about joining the Twitter revolution.
I’ve only been seriously Tweeting for about two weeks and I’ve already seen the positive benefits. Met quite a few cool people, exchanged a couple links, and besides that, it’s just fun to be part of an aimless conversation and to get feedback from random people about your random thoughts.
From where I’m standing, there are three reasons that you need to be on Twitter:
Networking
Meet and follow famous people, people in your industry, entrepreneurs, and make friends.
Strengthening Your Network
Join the conversation and let yourself be heard. Link your blog and facebook to your Twitter account and Tweet it up! Let people know what’s up with you, even if they don’t care right off the bat. Eventually they will. At least that’s what I’m banking on.
Learning What Smart People Are Up To
These smart people are telling you what they’re doing all the time. Read the links they provide. Study these people (in a non-freaky way) and use the little glimpse’s into their life to your advantage.
A tip: If you’re going to start Tweeting, do yourself a favor and get TweetDeck – a valuable tool for managing your twitter account and actively participating in the ongoing conversation about nothing in particular.
Another tip: If you have a Windows Mobile phone and are interested in Tweeting on the go, Tiny Twitter is the best Windows Mobile App for Tweeting.
