Jeremy Blake: feels like a complete dick for doing this and has accepted many of the friends that he deleted back into his fold.
Greetings. I just deleted tons of friends / relatives / cool people from my list of friends on facebook. I did this for a few reasons.
- I was in a cleaning sort of mood.
- I’ve decided that I want to draw a line between business and personal relationships. Facebook seems like a much more personal place.
- Email still exists.
Don’t be offended. I still love you. I didn’t delete you because I hate you. Like I said, I even deleted quite a few of my own relatives. I’m actually going to miss some of your updates. This totally seems like a dick move on my part, and I realize that, but facebook is a huge distraction for me and I need to start cutting back. I think reducing the volume of interactivity (thus: friends) might help. Probably not though…
My life is one big experiment and deleting over 70% of my facebook friends is just another sort of variable that I chose to alter.
You’re still welcome to follow me on Twitter, but for the time being I’m going to stop accepting new friends on facebook.
If you need to get in touch with me, shoot me an email and I will respond.
