It’s no secret, but it’s unknown among many bloggers that if you respond to posts that TechCrunch makes, or even the Google blog, they will put a link to your article on their site. Sites like TechCrunch and the Google Blog get millions of hits per day, and what happens if your link just happens to be displayed right below their post? You get a super-huge boost in traffic.
My post in all of it’s TechCrunch glory:

This was definitely a record-breaking day. 300 visitors may not be a big number for most bloggers, but it sure made my day.
To get more traffic to your blog
1. Hang out on popular blogs like TechCrunch and the Google Blog.
2. When an article catches your attention, blog about it.
3. Put a link to the exact TC or Google post on your blog. Try to blog about whatever you’re blogging about quick after the authority blog publishes their post. The faster you blog and link to their post, the higher you are on their list of linked-to sites.
4. Watch the hits roll in – it makes for some good entertainment.
5. Try to make some cash from the targeted traffic to your blog. For instance: If Google Voice would have had some sort of affiliate program for sign-up leads, you better believe I would have thrown an affiliate link on that post to capitalize on and make some cash money.
The Organic SEO posted about how to get a link from CNN – same concept as this post.
