So it turns out it really is just a “one click” deal. Jeeze! After about 2 hours of searching for how to install this software using Simple Helix I finally figured it out. The Simple Helix home page touts the fact that they are the best hosting company for the Magento ecommerce shopping cart solution and that they feature a one click install. Call me noob, but nothing comes right out and tells you how to get to the one click install.
How it’s done:
When you first sign up for Simple Helix hosting you will get an email (within 5-10 minutes) who’s subject will be “New Hosting Account Information”. There will be several bold sections, some of which: New Account Information, Server Information, and, wait for it,……drum roll: Control Panel Access!!!!! It will have a temporary control panel url and then a URL that you can use after your site has “propagated” throughout the world wide web. For now, click the temporary url. It will be something like http://84.23.00.00:0000/.
The one click install for Magento is in here, friends! After clicking that link you will be in what is called the “Direct Admin”. From there you will see “Advanced Features”, under that click “Installatron Script Installer”. You will be directed to a new page; click “New Install”. On the next page, either Ctrl + F for “Magento” or just search on the right side of the page and locate “MagentoCommerce” under the “e-commerce and business” section.
I hope this helps somebody out, or spares them two hours of their life wasted.
