I’m going to buy some of Jim Brickman’s albums from Amazon the next time I’ve got some cash to spare. I’m not sure how well the music will mesh with me driving like a bat out of hell in my car, but maybe it’ll chill me out a bit. Just kiddin, I’m not a bad driver. I leave that up to my brothers.

I love music more than just about anything nowadays. Angels & Airwaves is one of my favorite bands. If you don’t know anything about them, it’s Tom’s (from Blink 182) new band that he started when Blink went on their hiatus. Blink is now back together, so I think this will be the last CD from Angels & Airwaves for a little while.

I think what Tom is doing with Modlife from a business perspective is pretty cool. He sees the end of purchasing music as we know it. Modlife is his way of combating digital piracy. Instead of charging for music, he charges for an experience. You have to pay to be a member of the website to receive exclusive content.

This exclusive content includes viewing the “ModCam”, which is a live Q&A format style video chat between you and band members, member-only pictures, a chat room, and exclusive blog posts plus some other stuff.

So instead of charging $20 one time for a CD, he’s charging like $5.00 a month for a membership to the site. I suck at math, and even I can tell that the monthly option ends up banking a certain individual more than the one-time charge over time. I bet this giving away free CD’s thing catches on with other bands more pretty quickly here in the future.

I’m digging the CD. Listening to it right now, in fact. I’d really like to hear what you think of it. Music is awesome and talking about it adds to the awesomeness. Even if you don’t know who Angels & Airwaves is, you should download the CD and listen to it. Then come back here and comment about it.

The Offspring just released a new CD called Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. I recently acquired this CD and I rate it 4 thumbs up. That rating is only good for the first 500 times listening through the cd. Thereafter it just gets two thumbs up. If you like The Offspring, you should definitely check it out. Same Offspring sound, with a nice little twist that I quite enjoy.

Just for the record: I don’t know why, but I googled “keepin’ it real”. Urban Dictionary was among the first in the search results, so I clicked on it. This is the definition I got: To be true to oneself; to rep for ones own hood. Good stuff! Pretty tight, eh? I guess I’m “repping” for my hood posting about The Offspring. Word to my Mom.

I don’t know why, but this song has grown on me. I just happened upon it while listening to Pandora (this site rocks). I created a “station” called “Jack Johnson” and this song played. It kicks some trash. This kid is a pimp too. How old is he? I can’t tell. He’s probably like 30 and I’m calling him a kid. lol.

Have you ever listened to music because you get a “special” feeling when you listen to it? Maybe it’s because I’ve been researching 2pac lately, but if you listen to the lyrics it’s actually quite insightful and “touching” if you will. It drives me crazy that racism was an issue for so long (and still is). Anyway, I think it’s a cool song. I’m sure I’ll still love it for years to come. Just so you don’t think I’m a rap fiend, I just got a Mozart cd in the mail the other day for some random reason, but I listen to that too. As I stated in another post, I think all music is magical.

Give this song a shot, (no pun intended).

I was trying to think of something amazing to write for my first post on this new blog. But I was thinking “what could be a better topic to start off with than a review on a great cd?” I would say music makes up at least 50% of the person that I have become and the person that I continue to be. It’s one of the things that makes life worth living. I’m a true believer that music continues to be one of the best mediums to express yourself through. Whether you’re creating it or listening to it.

Here goes my first post:

As I sit here and listen to this ridiculous song by who knows who. I’m reminded of the Heavenly Music that I heard just about an hour ago. Today was the day that I would come home to I Empire on my doorstep, go downstairs and listen to the long awaited album un-interrupted. The words that came to my mind about half way through the album, (in no particular order) were these: wow, amazing, inspirational, heaven and an array of others. I had been waiting for this album for about a year and a half now (since their last album: We Don’t Need To Whisper) and I can truly say that it blew me away. The words to each song were inspiring and had great meaning and the actual music was just as inspiring as the words. I would recommend this album to anyone with any taste for good music. For those of us who are worried about bad language in this corrupt society, the only “bad” track on the whole cd is Rite of Spring (which also happens to be one of the best songs). The rest of the album is 100% pure.

After re-reading through what I just wrote, I realize that I sound like a loser when I say “wow, amazing, inspirational, and heaven”. I won’t change it though, I’m sure I’m not the only one that thought of those words. Just get it and hear for yourself.

They also have a really cool demo video on their website: www.angelsandairwaves.com. Tom Delonge (former Blink 182 Guitarist and vocalist. Now Angels and Airwaves band member) always has new things up his sleeve. From what I gather, they’re making a whole video that has their music in it. It’s going to be like a Super Music Video. I’m pretty stoked for it. In the meantime though, I think this cd will tide me over.
