We've made some changes and things should be running MUCH faster now. The frontpage should load in 30 seconds, or less. Regarding the re-design and interface, you're definitely thinking along the same lines we are. That's our next major project and something we're currently working on. Regarding the "Ending Soon" sort functionality - surprisingly, from our experience, most auctions end either through a BIN bid or through the reserve being reached and the auction holding choosing to declare a winner early. We’ve made some changes and things should be running MUCH faster now. The frontpage should load in 30 seconds, or less.
